Updated: Nov 11, 2019

Your first dance on your wedding day is romantic, personal and unforgettable. So, of course you need to find the perfect tune to mark the special occasion. But choosing that one song to fill just three minutes of your entire wedding day is a tough task.

But when it comes to weddings, we know some of the best inspiration can come from married couples who have been in your shoes before. So why not follow the same advice when it comes to deciding on your first dance song? Thanks to The Black Tux, who recently surveyed over 900 married people on the songs they chose for their first dances, we now know exactly what real couples are swaying to on the dance floor.

Unsurprisingly, 6.4% of respondents chose "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers as their first dance song—making it the most popular choice—while classic love songs by Etta James and Elvis Presley also earned a spot on the list.

The survey also indicated the three most popular songs by generations and it's no shock that millennials love "All of Me" by John Legend—even Kimye had the singer perform the song live at their nuptials! What is surprising, however, is the steady rise in popularity of country music. Turns out, 23% of respondents opted for a country tune for their first dance!

There's nothing wrong with choosing a popular song for your soirée as a married couple. Sure, guests have heard these songs before, but there's a reason for that! For romantic tunes sure to get you (and your guests) all up in their feels on your wedding day, read on to see what newlyweds are dancing to these days.
